National Careers Week (NCW) is a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people leaving education.
We offer a range of courses for young people and adults to develop their skills and kick start their careers to gain employment or progress in their current roles.
The Parents’ Guide provides parents with the information they need to help their teenage children make the right choices to create successful futures after GCSE and sixth form. The National Careers Week team have created this online guide. This guide is designed to inform, involve and guide parental support. They include the most up to date information on topics such as apprenticeships, universities and revision techniques.
You can view the guide by visiting The National Careers Week website.
We are passionate about promoting the importance of career development whether it’s through completing an apprentice, going to university or going straight into employment.
Importance of Career Planning
It is important to come up with your career planning as it gives you the much-needed direction and makes it clear there where you see yourself in future. It makes you aware of your strength and weaknesses and the skills and knowledge that are required to achieve your goals in future.
A large proportion of our life is spent in achieving our career goals, thus it is very important to make sure that the right steps are taken and correct planning is done in the early years of your life. There are very few lucky ones who are born with a clear mind and who knows what they want to do and where they see themselves in life ahead. But the majority of us are not sure what we want from life and so it is very important to plan out things. This is what National Careers Week promoted and thus career planning is what gives your career and in some way your life, true meaning and purpose.
Are you interested in upskilling in your current role? Or maybe you want to find a new apprenticeship or traineeship opportunity?
