Job Description:

As an Apprentice Payroll Assistant your responsibilities will be the following:

  • Collating payroll information for different employers and dealing with any queries. Payrolls may be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annually
  • Calculating and input of payroll information to meet tight deadlines
  • Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs, Calculating SSP, SMP and any other statutory payments
  • Adding new starters and recording leavers with appropriate forms
  • Dealing with pension deductions and payments in line with the pension scheme

Required Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education to GCSE level (or equivalent) to include GCSE in English and maths at Grade C/4 or above (preferably A-B/6-9)
  • IT qualification
  • A-B (8-6) GCSE or equivalent in IT

Future Prospects

  • Full-time employment in a national practice on successful completion of the apprenticeship

Training to be delivered

Payroll Administrator level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Functional Skills maths and English level 2 (if GCSE A-C / 8-4 or equivalent not already achieved)
  • Full induction through and ongoing training/learning and development throughout the Apprenticeship by Performance Network and Smart
